Happi

It is Japanese custom to go parents home over the Obon Holiday, so I went , as I left my suitcase there, should bring it back to my flat.

My parents are interested in my trip to Malaysia.

When I told them "I will meet people whom I usually get a lot of help from", my father said to me:

"You should take them a souvenir."

I'm also thinking of that, but what should I take, I wonder.

As it is a souvenir, it would be good that it looks like a Japanese product.

But nowadays we can buy everything and anything in the world through the internet if we just want.

Usually my colleagues bring me a handkerchief , food or a kind of consumption thing, may be I would do so...

Suddenly father said, Do take them "'Happi ".

"Happi" is like Kimono or clothes without sleeves, it is worn on the occasion of festivals.

But, why Happi? I asked my father.

He said, "A souvenir should be something surprising or meaningful, at least feeling good to learn something about Japan. At that point,"Happi" is good. You can explain to them that it is Japanese Happi, when you wear it, you may be very happy".

I don't know how Happi has that origin, but my father is very content to say that.
(That's a kind of traditional Japanese joke, so called "Dajare")

Anyway, I haven't decided whether I should take Happi or not...

Malaysia

I've been trying to keep a diary at least once a week, as my English teacher recommended to do so.

Actually it reminds me once a day, but this week , it was very hard for me.

(But I'm aware that I say that every week.)

One good thing is my senior person finally decided to send me on a business trip to Malaysia on second week of Sept.

I'll have a whole free Sunday during the trip, I'm enjoy wondering where to go sightseeing in Melaka.

During the trip, I 'll go to 3 factories to observe the manufacturing process.

As all the travel accompany is fluent English speakers, I 'll be very embarrassed with my poor English.

But this travel chance is good for me to learn more about work and to improve my English.
